If you can’t figure out why your monthly budget isn’t working out, consider this. List the dumbest things you ever bought and keep it on your smartphone. Then, when you’re tempted to purchase that combination ice-cream maker/shoe polisher, just look at the list. If that doesn’t stop you in your tracks from making another foolish purchase, at the very least condition yourself to postpone the purchase until you come to your senses. Given a few minutes you will likely come to the decision to not waste your money. In other words, stop impulse buying.
