People go to work not just for the money but because you get to be with people you like. Having pals at work makes you a better worker. Research showsthat work friends exchange more and higher quality information than do just superficial-level co-workers.

On the other hand

According to an article in Redbook, only one percent of the people polled said they can always count on their coworkers to brighten their day. Most of the time it’s our pets that cheer us up. Kids come next, followed by friends, and husbands.
